Bao Vo is a Vietnamese American songwriter, music producer, and composer based in Los Angeles. His textural electronic-based compositions incorporate various musical genres and organic elements. He has composed music for films, games, live exhibitions, and meditation programs. His music has been featured in advertisements for brands such as Oakley, Burton, CrossFit, and more.
As an indie pop musician, Vo has released music under the artist name BAO since 2018 and has worked as a primary writer, producer, and creative director for the Asian American electronic pop group Ming & Ping since 2004. His biggest musical influences include Prince, Trent Reznor, and Jon Brion.
Vo’s experience as a refugee informs his work as a musician and activist. He serves on the board of directors for The Slants Foundation and hosts a cultural interview show called Coffee with BAO.
